The detailed answer: Termites generally don't eat treated deck frames, but they will happily use your new subfloor as a ladder to reach the untreated framing inside your house. If your deck is bolted directly over your home's weep holes or damp-proof course, it creates a hidden pathway for termites. This is called "bridging the barrier." If a pest inspector can't see the barrier, your termite warranty may indeed be voided.
However, a compliant deck design ensures that termites cannot enter your home undetected.

Choosing the Right Timber: AS/NZS 1604 Hazard Classes

- H3 Treated Timber (Outside, Above Ground): This timber is treated to resist moderate decay and termites. We use H3 treated pine for all your deck’s bearers and joists that do not touch the ground.
